Best Mobile Networks in Egypt: Vodafone vs Orange vs WE

Egypt has three major mobile network operators: Vodafone Egypt, Orange Egypt and WE (Telecom Egypt). All three provide 4G/LTE nationwide and 5G in Cairo, Alexandria and the Red Sea resort areas. For travelers, the differences are subtle — but knowing them helps.

Vodafone Egypt

The largest operator with the widest coverage, particularly strong in Cairo, Giza, the Nile Delta and Red Sea resorts. Fastest average 4G speeds in independent testing and the deepest rural coverage. Vodafone is the default choice for most MISR SIM eSIM plans.

Orange Egypt

Second-largest operator with excellent coverage in tourist areas (Luxor, Aswan, Hurghada, Sharm El Sheikh) and strong urban 5G in Cairo. Slightly cheaper for local top-ups but comparable data speeds.

WE (Telecom Egypt)

Operated by Telecom Egypt and the newest of the three. Coverage in main cities is solid; some remote areas rely on 3G. Good for Cairo-only stays.
