Careem is Uber's biggest rival in Egypt — and often the better choice. Here's when to use it.
Careem is the Middle East's homegrown ride-hailing app (now owned by Uber but operating independently). It is widely used in Egypt and offers a few services the other apps don't, so many travelers keep it installed alongside Uber and inDrive.
Coverage
Careem operates in Cairo, Alexandria, Hurghada, Sharm El Sheikh, Luxor, Aswan, Mansoura and several smaller cities. Availability varies by city and time of day, so it is worth checking more than one app in Upper Egypt and Sinai.
