How to Activate an eSIM in Egypt — Step-by-Step Guide

An eSIM is activated by scanning a QR code that MISR SIM emails you seconds after checkout. The whole process takes about a minute. Install the eSIM before you fly and keep the QR code somewhere safe (you may need it again if you factory-reset your phone).

Before you install

• Confirm your phone supports eSIM (iPhone XS/2018 and later; most Samsung, Google Pixel and modern Android flagships).
• Have a stable Wi-Fi connection — the eSIM downloads over the internet.
• Do NOT delete your home SIM. eSIMs run alongside your regular line.

iPhone: how to install

1. Open Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM.
2. Choose "Use QR Code" and scan the QR code from your MISR SIM email.
3. Label the line "Egypt" so you can identify it later.
4. Set the MISR SIM eSIM as your Cellular Data line when you land in Egypt.
5. Turn on Data Roaming for that line only (this is normal for eSIMs).

Android: how to install

1. Open Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs → Add eSIM.
2. Tap "Download a SIM instead?" and scan the QR code.
3. Rename the profile "Egypt" for clarity.
4. After landing, set the eSIM as your default mobile data SIM.

Troubleshooting
