Where trains don't reach — Red Sea resorts, Sinai, Siwa Oasis — comfortable intercity buses fill the gap. Egypt's private bus operators run modern coaches with air-conditioning, reclining seats and Wi-Fi on select routes.

Main operators

  • GO Bus — the largest network, covering Cairo, Alexandria, Hurghada, Sharm El Sheikh, Luxor and Aswan.
  • Blue Bus — competitive on Red Sea and Sinai routes.
  • Super Jet — mainly Cairo–Alexandria and Cairo–Hurghada.
  • East Delta — for Sinai and Nuweiba/Dahab routes.

Comfort levels

GO Bus offers Elite (fewer seats, more legroom), Business and Economy classes. Elite costs noticeably more and is worth it on overnight routes. Fares changed more than once in 2026 after fuel price rises, so check the current price in the operator's app or website rather than relying on older figures. Bring warm layers — air-conditioning is aggressive.

Booking

Book online through the GO Bus app or website using an international card. Blue Bus and Super Jet also offer online booking. In peak season, book 2–3 days ahead.

Popular tourist routes

  • Cairo → Hurghada — 6–7h.
  • Cairo → Sharm El Sheikh — 8–9h.
  • Cairo → Dahab — 9–10h.
  • Hurghada → Luxor — 4–5h.
