Sharm El Sheikh International Airport (SSH) is the Sinai's main international gateway, serving the Red Sea resorts of Naama Bay, Sharks Bay, Nabq and Ras Mohammed. It's a short, well-organised airport used mostly by charter and package flights.

Visa on arrival

Many nationalities qualify for a free Sinai-only entry permit if staying within South Sinai for up to 15 days. This covers Sharm, Dahab, Nuweiba and Taba, but does NOT allow travel to Cairo or Luxor. If you plan to visit the mainland or St Catherine's Monastery outside a guided tour, buy the standard e-Visa (US$30 single-entry) in advance.

Getting to your resort

  • Hotel shuttle — always the easiest with luggage; usually pre-arranged.
  • Taxi — agree the fare before you set off; prices changed during 2026, so confirm the amount rather than relying on older figures.
  • Ride-hailing — Uber availability around the airport is limited; inDrive lists Sharm El Sheikh among its Egyptian cities, with airport fees and tolls paid separately by the passenger.

Staying online

Free airport Wi-Fi is available but limited and slow. Install your Egypt eSIM before you fly so you can contact your hotel, load Google Maps, and translate signs from the second you land.

Tips before landing

  • The airport is 15–20 minutes from Naama Bay in normal traffic.
  • Duty-free is well-stocked; alcohol allowance is 3 litres on arrival.
  • Have small USD or EUR notes for the visa desk if needed.
